Students will deepen their knowledge and skills through a broad and balanced program in which technology and media are core learning tools. The curriculum is designed to be academically challenging, stimulating and creative.
Realizing Potential
A passionate and hard-working group of educators who will set high expectations, learn continually, and uphold our core values and philosophy.
The AIS management team has years of experience in education in Bangladesh, and understands how to navigate the challenges of the local education sector while capitalizing on its opportunities. We will build on decades of experience in education management to uphold high standards from the very beginning.
We are looking for passionate, hard-working educators who want to learn as they teach, and who believe in our core values and philosophy. If you are interested in joining a dynamic community of educators in Bangladesh, write to us!
We welcome inquiries from families who share our values and philosophy of education. We have no admissions deadlines for the Eary Years program but we encourage interested parents to apply early since spots fill up a few months before the school year starts. For Elementary school, we encourage parents to apply by March for the following academic session that starts in August. Parents who want to apply for their child should fill out the inquiry form to start the process.
How should we teach our children so that they are well-equipped to succeed in the future? An important part of our program is to ensure that students are given a voice and choice, so that they can take ownership over their own learning (student agency). The school’s academic program develops students who are:
If we are to fulfill our mission of educating young people who contribute meaningfully to global society, then we have to instill in them the values, principles and good character to do so. We believe that a few key habits of mind should be inculcated in students from an early age so that they grow up to be principled and balanced individuals.
At Aurora, our students develop the following healthy habits for life:
We believe every child can be inspired towards learning. Every child has their own passion, interests and learning styles—by seeking these out and igniting them, we can foster a lifelong love of learning and true intellectual curiosity.
Our students do not shy away from intellectual challenges; they embrace difficult problems and conduct research, make connections and seek out creative ways to find solutions. Our students are inquirers, knowledgeable, analytical and reflective. We want to nurture multilingual students and encourage them to think critically and challenge assumptions. They balance multiple perspectives and apply what they have learned to solve new problems, both in a local and global context. They listen carefully and take part in inclusive dialogue in order to address community and global problems.
Our curriculum’s approach to mastering subject areas across a range of disciplines encourages children to delve deeper to develop conceptual understandings. Our goal is to not simply teach a curriculum, but to make the curriculum meaningful and relevant. And academic rigor is at the heart of our planning and assessment systems to ensure they excel in school, and in their lives thereafter.
We are a small school dedicated to offering excellent education to families who share our values and philosophy. We are striving to build an educational ecosystem that brings together parents, children, teachers and school leaders to work closely for the growth and development of our students. Student-teacher ratios will remain small, in order to ensure students get the attention and supervision that they need to thrive.
The school’s academic program is based on high expectations for all. The academic program will be delivered through modern teaching methods that emphasize inquiry-based learning. Our fundamental values and principles [link to core values page] are based on our beliefs about effective teaching and learning so that every one of our students can realize their potential and become productive, balanced citizens who contribute meaningfully to society and the world.
AIS was founded with a passion for achieving the highest standards in education, based on a sound foundation of research. The design of the school and its academic program is based on well-established international best practices in teaching. We intend to build one of the best 21st century schools in Bangladesh.

Our pre-school program is designed to foster individual learning and child development at every age and stage through active, hands-on discovery and exploration. The philosophy of learning through play is at the heart of the curriculum at this stage. Children will participate in individual and group activities to build a broad range of skills and concepts. Children will participate in structured activities and also have opportunities for free play as a means to build social skills and positive attitudes towards learning, and to take ownership over their learning.
Ours is an engaging, flexible curriculum that's built around extensive research, 21st-century technology, and developmentally - appropriate instruction. Our carefully planned curriculum introduces and reinforces concepts of math's, two languages (English and Bangla, or a second language), science, social awareness, environment, art, music and physical health.
Our academic program builds the knowledge, skills and dispositions for success in all three of the key child development areas: cognitive, physical, and social and emotional.
Our pre-school program is divided into four stages:

In Elementary School, the more formal mode of schooling starts from Class I to IV. At this stage, our students will continue to build on students fundamental skills for learning - cognitive, physical and social-emotional. Our core values will be reflected in the academic program in terms of content, design of curriculum and teaching methods.
The curriculum will prepare students to become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others and have the capacity to participate in the world around them. Students at this level will explore themselves and their surroundings, further advance their literacy and numeracy skills, and widen their horizons in science, social awareness, the arts and physical education. Computer skills, media literacy and IT will play an important role in children's learning.

In Middle School, from Class V to VIII, the academic program entails deepening knowledge and skills in different subject groups, providing a broad and balanced education for early adolescents. Interdisciplinary units will help students to make connections and deepen learning, with technology and media as core learning tools. The curriculum is designed to be academically challenging, stimulating and creative. Students will study a broad and balanced range of subjects, acquiring not only content knowledge, skills and conceptual understanding, but also the cognitive and social-emotional skills to succeed in the future.
Students will study the broad subject areas and will start to specialize, to deepen their learning, as they progress to higher classes.
A range of extra-curricular opportunities will also be provided for students to explore their passions and talents, develop a wide range of skills, connect and serve in their communities and express their individuality and creativity.
In Class IX to XII, the curriculum will prepare students for success in higher education and their subsequent careers. Students will be challenged intellectually at this stage, through a broad and stimulating curriculum.
Opportunities for a wide-range of extra-curricular pursuits, internships, leadership opportunities and international travel will be provided for students to grow, learn and connect with their peers. Programs that allow students to further develop their passions and talents and deepen key skills will be mandatory requirements for students at this stage. Community service, physical activity and creative expression will all be encouraged for the development of our students as complete and well-rounded individuals. Life skills and career skills will be developed to prepare students for the next step in their academic careers.
And, of course, our core values will remain at the center of our academic program, with emphasis on 21st century learning, healthy habits and intellectual development.
Life in AIS will be inspirational, joyful and educational! Classroom study itself will be hands-on, engaging and built on student's curiosity. Our curriculum is designed to truly make learning fun.
At the same time, student life will encompass a lot more than just academics. For pre-school students, daily physical activity and arts activities have been planned. And, we will provide other opportunities to develop an ecosystem of learning around the school:
A wider range of programs and events will be designed for older students, from elementary school onwards, such as community service projects, academic competitions and fairs, leadership opportunities, national and international trips, and sports competitions. Programs for older students, such as Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, the Duke of Edinburgh Award program, Model United Nations, and an annual play will also be arranged.
At Aurora we want to develop productive and close relationships with all our school families in order to work together to support our students' growth and development. We expect all parents to be actively involved in their child's education, and to stay in close touch with the school on all matters related to their child's education.
At AIS, our philosophy of discipline and behavior management emphasizes respect, patience, hard work, independence and self-control. Students are taught good behavior from the very first day of school.
In addition, we teach certain values and principles to encourage positive character building and these are encompassed in our three core values. Behavioral success in school usually goes hand-in-hand with academic success, so it's a very important skill.
We have a student code of conduct that we will teach students over the years; we have a behavior management guideline for teachers; and we share with parents our expectations from them in this respect. In short, all the members of the Aurora community play a part to help our students grow up to be moral, ethical and responsible citizens.
